Save Money Online

Prices for almost everything from groceries to fuel seem to be going up and up nowadays, with no end in sight. Add on top of that the fact that wage rises for most people will not be happening in the near future, it is becoming extremely important to save money whenever and wherever we can.

One way to do this is by using the internet. Most people are now online at either their home or workplace, and it is surprising just how much money can be saved on everyday items as well as one off purchases simply by doing a little research.

One example of this is by using an auto insurance quote comparison service. Rather than having to phone up dozens of motor insurance companies one at a time, you can simply visit a site which will give you the best price. It really is that simple! (more...)

The Availability of Online Shopping

The number of online stores now is unbelievable. It is amazing that there are so many things that can be purchased online now that before could never have been bought any other way, but through the store.

Not only that, but the number of stores that are available continues to expand too. There are so many options and choices now. You are no longer limited to only local retailers and distributors. Now you can purchase from practically anywhere in the world without a problem.

However, finding all the options available is another story. It can be difficult to search through the web to find all the stores you are looking for. However, the good part is that there is UK Net Guide and similar sites that offer an array of choices and have consolidated all the stores and sites together in one convenient location. (more...)

Understanding the Excess

When buying a car hire insurance policy it is always important to make sure you fully understand what excess is within your insurance policy and also what the implications of excess are. When choosing cheap car hire excess insurance amounts may be extremely high and this will have a negative impact should you make a claim on your policy. Sometimes it makes more sense to pay a higher price for your policy but to have a much lower excess.

The excess within your car insurance policy is the amount that you have to pay in the event that you are considered to be at fault for a claim made on the insurance policy. This would mean that if your excess is £150 and you are making a claim of £1000 you will be required to pay the first £150 yourself. In the event that a third party is found to be at fault this excess amount may be refunded to you.

The excess is often composed of two separate excess amounts – the voluntary excess and a compulsory excess. The compulsory excess is the amount that is imposed by the insurance company and is often calculated upon the basis of certain characteristics of the policy holder. For example young inexperienced drivers often have a higher compulsory excess amount as they are considered to be a greater liability by an insurance company. (more...)

Look before you Leap with a Spanish Mortgage

If you are considering buying a holiday home in Spain it is a good idea to make sure that you have fully researched everything there is to know about property ownership in Spain and taking out an overseas mortgage. Remember that UK law is not relevant should anything go wrong either during the purchase of a property, the building of a property, or subsequent ownership of a property.

Spanish mortgages are very similar to mortgages as we know them in the UK. The fact that both Spain and the UK are in the European Union does offer extra protection. However, it is still vitally important that you seek independent legal advice before you commit to any kind of deposit or mortgage. Beware of mortgage schemes that seem to good to be true offering extremely low interest rates. Often these policies have variable rates that can almost double very quickly.

As the apartment is overseas it is even more important that you have adequate insurance for your apartment. Many insurance companies offer specialist holiday homes insurance and it is a good idea to shop around for the best policy for your needs. (more...)

Discrimination in car insurance.

Outrage is growing in the European car insurance market due to the effect discrimination is having on young drivers. Fresh evidence has emerged to suggest that prices can vary by as much as $11,200 depending on the age of the driver in the UK.

The Evidence

Research retrieved by the UK based MoneySupermarket.com car insurance website, suggests that male motorists are the most discriminated against. An 18 year old male driver with a 1.2 litre Ford Fiesta could face a bill of up to $11,737 for insurance. This is compared with a middle aged 50 year old motorist with the same vehicle who would only have to pay $576.95 on the same vehicle, a price difference of over $11,000: (more...)

The Small Print for Insurance

Whenever we search for any form of insurance, we can often be in such a hurry, we overlook the full terms and conditions of the policy. This can mean that we end up with an insurance policy that is pretty useless to our needs and it is not until such a time as we are forced to make a claim, that these in discrepancies come to light.

This is why it is always so imperative to check through the full terms and conditions (small print) of the insurance policy: whether this is naasinsurance.ie or even a healthcare policy, never sign up to any such policy without checking to make sure it is for you.

Some of the main issues that you should be checking for are whether or not the criteria that are of the most importance to you are actually covered in the first place. Remember that the cheapest policies will often cover less aspects and this is when you really need to be vigilant. (more...)

Why insurance policies are not all the same

It is a condition of every mortgage that you have buildings insurance for your property. This is so if your property is completely destroyed you will still be able to pay off your mortgage.

Whilst that is something no one likes to think about, it is certainly good to be prepared, but check your Home Buildings Insurance carefully, as policies do not always provide the same amount of cover. Some policies cover buildings and contents, and you may find you can get a better deal if you have both from the same company, but that is not always the case.

For example, the excess, which is the amount you pay out of every claim, will differ from policy to policy and there is a big difference between paying £250 for repairs, or paying £5,000 for repairs. Also, some policies include extras like decorating, whereas others don't. (more...)

The Pros and Cons of Fixed Annuities

A contract between an individual and an insurance company that provides the individual with a fixed income stream for the rest of his life is known as a fixed annuity. There are two types of fixed annuities which are deferred fixed annuities and immediate fixed annuities. Using annuity rates calculator will help the individual determine how much money he is likely to receive on a monthly basis. However, he will first need to know the pros and cons of both types of fixed annuities in order to make an informed decision.

Deferred fixed annuities consist of two phases which are the accumulation phase and the distribution phase. During the accumulation phase, the individual makes regular deposits to his account. These deposits can either be pre-taxed or post taxed. The accumulation phase can last for a few years or for a few decades. The individual determines the duration of the accumulation phase but once he decides to have the distributions started, he will start receiving payouts on a monthly, quarterly, or annually basis. The individual determines when he wants to receive the payouts; however, once he has made his decision, he cannot change it.

Immediate fixed annuities are funded with a single post-taxed amount. The distributions normally start within a year. The amount used to purchase the fixed annuity can either be from a checking or savings account. (more...)

How To Tell If You May Be Eligible For A PPI Reclaim

Payment protection insurance has become one of the most controversial and notorious financial scandals in the history of the UK, leading to the various financial institutions having to repay billions back to consumers that had been taken without consent. You may be eligible for a repayment yourself, but how can you decide? Read the points below. If one of these applies to you, then you may well be eligible for a PPI Calculator Firstly, a good indication as to whether you’re eligible is if you took out a mortgage within the last fifteen years or so. One of the most unethical ways in which PPI was sold was at point-of-sale with large loans such as mortgages, even on some occasions as being a compulsory part of the larger loan itself. Needless to say this was illegal, and has resulted in a more than substantial amount of the refunds being made.

Another good indication as to whether you might be able to make a reclaim is whether or not you took out a credit card during the time period that PPI selling was in operation. As with the mortgages, financial institutions often sold PPI as being a compulsory part of even obtaining a credit card in the first place. So, if you’ve picked up a credit card, then it’s well worth re-scanning your paperwork to see if PPI was involved somewhere along the line.

Finally, it’s worth checking your eligibility for a refund if you belong to any of the following groups: students, retirees, and the self-employed. These groups of people are perhaps more annoyed than any at the revelations of mis-selling. Why so? Because despite having been sold the policies by banks, they would actually be ineligible to make a claim on them! PPI cannot pay out to these groups of consumers, but they had been sold the policies anyway! If that sounds like it could apply to you, then once again have a scan through your paperwork. (more...)

Considering Wedding Insurance for your Big Day

There is so much to live for during a wedding, and on top of everything is emotional satisfaction. It is one special day that you can’t stand a thing going wrong and you wish to take control in advance to avoid embarrassments which may ruin your day.

A wedding insurance can help a big deal when considered in advance as there is always room for uncertainty. Compare wedding cover to rest assured that no matter what happens on or before your wedding day, everything will be in good hands. People consider cover incase of uncertainties like wedding cancellation due to say injury, dispute or anything. It is pretty obvious that even before a wedding day, expenses are already high, a lot of money going to preparations.

Wedding insurance is supposed to take care of damage or loss of expensive items like rings, cake, wedding dresses and suits among other valuables. Policies are different, while some will consider covering guests in a wedding, others will only consider the wedding couple and perhaps the side kicks. Cancellations due to natural events like weather are unlikely to be covered by most policies. (more...)

How to Get Cheap Bike Insurance

With fuel prices reaching ridiculous highs and traffic being the stuff of nightmares, more and more people are flocking to buy motorbikes, scooters and bicycles as means of commuting. They are much more affordable than a car to buy and maintain, they use much less fuel and you don’t get caught in traffic like you do in a car. And like any other mode of transport, you would be crazy not to take out an insurance policy on it. This is where the catch comes into play, even though bikes are more convenient and cheap the insurance can sometimes be way too expensive. So where do you get cheap bike insurance and how do you know what policy to choose?

To get cheap bike insurance you would have to know both how much your budget allows for insurance and what type of cover you require. Like with insurance on any other vehicle, the younger the driver the higher the premiums are. So for young riders a cheaper premium will mean higher excesses in the event of an accident. So it would be wise to choose a mid range option that has a relatively affordable premium, but also offers a reasonable excess payment.

For older riders who have had their license for quite a number of years the hefty young rider premiums won’t be a problem. However, not all policies are tailor made and have a lot of cover you really do not need. If you use your bike for everyday commuting for instance, you would not need cover for track days or racing.
